About DrawBird
DrawBird is a small drawing game. You draw a bird, give it a name and say "fly!". A few seconds later your bird is flapping in the same sky as birds from all over the world.
Why?
I wanted a place where you don't have to draw well and nobody is chasing points. You just make something, share it and enjoy it.
My reason for choosing birds is simple. Anyone can draw a bird, every child has seen a bird, and birds fly. Seeing something you drew come to life and fly away is a small but real happiness.
Besides the game, I care about getting to know birds too. On the Birds of Türkiye pages I describe birds you can see from your balcony, and in the drawing lessons I show how to draw them step by step.
My rules
- Free, no accounts. I don't ask for an email, a password or a real name.
- Safe for every age. New birds get a look every day, inappropriate names are blocked, and every bird can be reported.
- Little data. I keep only the data the game needs to work. No cookies, no tracking tools.
- Open source. All of the code is on GitHub, under the AGPL-3.0 license.
Inspiration
The idea came from Alden Hallak's fish drawing game DrawAFish. DrawBird's code was written from scratch. DrawAFish's code, images or model were not used.
Who makes it?
I make DrawBird from Türkiye as an independent developer. For suggestions, bugs or collaboration, you can write on GitHub.
