How to play
In DrawBird you draw a bird, and it flaps its wings in the same sky as everyone's birds. You don't need to sign up. You can start drawing the moment you open the page.
Draw your bird
- Make the beak face right. Birds fly in both directions in the sky. A drawing that faces right is mirrored automatically when it turns left. If you drew it the wrong way round, press Flip.
- Draw the wings above the dashed line. The dashed line in the middle of the canvas is the wing line. Everything above it opens and closes like a wing, and what's below stays as the body.
- Draw thick. Birds look smaller in the sky. A thickness of 6 or more looks much better than a thin line.
- Color with the bucket. Draw a shape, choose the Bucket and tap inside it. A closed shape fills in one go. If there's a gap in the edge, the paint spills out, so don't forget to close the shape.
- Use color. Besides the nine ready-made colors there's a custom color picker. White shines against the dark sky.
- Name it and fly it. Give your bird a name of up to 24 letters and press fly!. Your bird enters the sky from the left.
Your bird flies right away
The moment you let your bird fly, it enters everyone's sky. To keep DrawBird safe for people of every age, an admin looks at new birds every day. If you see an inappropriate bird, press Report and we'll take care of the rest.
In the sky
- From the Show menu, choose the newest, most loved or random birds. Bird count goes from 1 to 100, and Speed goes from slow to fast.
- Drop food: on a computer, Shift + click or right-click; on a phone, turn on Feed mode and tap. Nearby birds come and peck.
- Tap a bird: you see its name and who drew it, you can vote, and you can copy its link.
- A small notification shows up when someone releases a new bird. If you don't want it, turn off New bird notification.
Votes and ranking
You can give each bird a ▲ or a ▼. Pressing again takes your vote back. Ranking has four orders: Rising shows new and loved birds, Score the best of all time, Date the newest, and Random surprises.
Flocks
Create a flock in Profile, then collect the birds you like from the ranking into it with "Add to flock". You can watch the flock alone in the sky and send its link to friends. If you choose "Only me", nobody else sees it.
Your account and other devices
DrawBird doesn't ask for an email or a password. Your birds are tied to this browser. To continue with the same birds on your phone, copy the recovery code in Profile and paste it into Sign in with code on the other device. Don't share the code with anyone, because whoever knows it can delete your birds.
Limits
- At most 8 birds and 12 flocks per person. For a new bird, you can delete an old one from Profile.
- A bird reported three times (two on its first day) comes down from the sky and goes to the admin. For the rules, see the terms of use.
