How to draw a sparrow

Easy

If this is your first bird, start with the sparrow. A round body, a small head, a short beak. In five steps you will have a sparrow that flaps its wings.

The dashed line is the wing line in the DrawBird canvas: everything above it flaps, everything below it stays as the body.

Step by step

1. Body

Draw a horizontal egg right below the dashed line in the middle of the canvas. If the body stays below the line, it holds still while the bird flies.

2. Head

Add a circle at the upper right of the body, overlapping it a little. A sparrow has almost no neck, so the head sits right on the body.

3. Beak and eye

Put a small, thick triangle of a beak on the right of the head. Sparrows crack seeds, so the beak is short and stout. Draw the eye as a dot close to the beak.

4. Wing and tail

Now the most important part. ABOVE the dashed line, draw a leaf-shaped wing going up from the middle of the body. This is the part that opens and closes in the sky. Add a short tail with a square tip on the left of the body.

5. Color and details

The male sparrow has a black bib and gray cheeks. Add a small black patch on the throat and two light lines on the wing. Set the pen to 6 or thicker, because birds look smaller in the sky.

Done!

Sparrow is ready. Now draw it in DrawBird, give it a name and let it loose in the sky.
